Drama

Our Drama program is designed to encourage, develop, and strengthen the self-confidence and caring nature of our students. To speak, perform, or stand in front of an audience and/or peers takes incredible courage. With the support and encouragement of friends and teachers, this is possible. Public speaking is a large part of an educational future, and it is important to prepare our students to feel comfortable and confident in this role.

Role playing is a key component of our Drama curriculum. Evoking the imagination of a student by role playing can help children empathize and sympathize with a variety of opinions and thus better understand human nature. By expressing themselves in a healthy, fun and supportive environment, students gain confidence in a job well done.

Each year, our student body at RHMS dedicates hours of hard work to our large-scale productions. Family and friends are invited to join us to support and appreciate our Fine Arts & Drama Program. Students fill various roles in the shows from choir and band, to classroom performances, prop building, scene painting, and stage coordination.

Visual Arts

Through the study of art, students are taken on a journey of discovery, development, and a quest for creativity. Beginning with the basic principles of art theory and technique, we complement their newfound knowledge with the study of Art History. We believe, to appreciate an art piece, a student must experience the joy of creation.

In addition to using traditional tools and methods to express their creativity, students will also have access to digital tools. Using software programs such as Photoshop and several video editing applications, students will have limitless possibilities to share their ideas and voice through art. Instead of merely participating in digital content, students will become authors and contributors. These skill sets will benefit them in both the Fine Arts and Drama program here at RHMS.

Painting, sculpting, and drawing provide an outlet for emotions to surface in a positive way. At RHMS, we provide a well-rounded education in fine arts. This provides students with a solid appreciation of the world around them.

Each year the student body, both Elementary and Montessori, partakes in their very own art festival, The RHMS Art Café. The school is transformed into an art viewing gallery to show off students' masterpieces created throughout the year. In addition to the gallery of exceptional artwork, there are also photography projections, as well as live music performed by our talented students. Awards are given out to each grade and winners have their work framed and displayed on the walls of our school! Parents and teachers come out to show their support and view the beautiful creativity of student art throughout the halls, classrooms, and gymnasium.
